The Exhibition of Excellent Architectural Works Recommended by International Architects and Social Public
Environment and Inhabitation——Love the Children and Respect the Old

The 2nd Architectural Biennial Beijing (ABB2006) is an international large-scaled exhibition of architectural culture industry series which is jointly sponsored by the Ministry of Construction and Ministry of Culture P.R. China. It’s a large-scaled main theme culture activity with rich content. Its objective is to show international new thought, new idea, new design, new material and new development of architecture. The main theme of ABB2006 is ““City and Architecture: Resources Efficiency and Environment Friendliness” It’s a stage for the architectural industry from home and abroad to share their .resource, it’s also a pageant to show Chinese architecture, to improve the international force of Chinese architects and their works and to promote the intercommunion and cooperation between Chinese architectural culture and international architectural culture.

In order to publicize the long-term achievement of Chinese architecture, to promote international competitive power of Chinese architectural industry, to show the international force of Chinese architectural industry and to perfect the competitive system of Chinese architectural industry,ABB2006 will put out such an activity——The Exhibition of Excellent Architectural Works Recommended by International Architects and Social Public. This activity will follow a masterstroke “Environment and Inhabitation——Love the Children and Respect the Old” and divided to three stages. Firstly, according to the public influence of the projects, the appointed provincial media (TV station, newspaper and internet) will make the first selection for the exhibition. Meanwhile, they will effect the provincial selection by the evaluation of local experts and social public. There will be only one or two projects can join the exhibition for each province (can be designing plan, constructing project and finished project); After the first selection, there will be organized international architects who will evaluate representational enterprises’ projects on the spot. Through these segments, the chosen projects will be shown to the public. This activity will issue the following titles by ABB2006: “Excellent public building”, “Excellent community” and “ Excellent building” , and publish relative books. The whole process will obey the basic rules of “ Open, Equal, Justice” with the aim to show the real level of Chinese architectural enterprise, to share the building experiences of international construction of inhabitation and to higher the ability of Chinese architecture.
