INTERNATIONAL SMALL TOWN PLANNING EXHIBITION AND FORUM

There are 39,000 small towns in China and about 1 billion people live in the towns and country sides. This is the situation of China . Small town is the union point of the whole development in China’s urban and rural areas. The construction of small towns is an important force for China’s development of cities and towns.
During the 20 years after China’s reform and opening up, the construction of China’s small towns has made a great development, however ,it still has many problems and difficulties. At present, the construction of China’s small towns is going to a new developing stage, so that we should conclude the experiences and lessons from the past and absorb the new experiences and ideas of international small towns’ construction, then to guide the development of China’s small towns to a bright way. In the construction of China’s small towns, especially in such aspects as planning, function, culture ,develop policy and manage systems, we still need to use other’s experiences for reference, inherit the old and create the new will be great help for China’s construction of small towns.
China has accumulate a number of successful experiences but also negative lessons during the construction of small towns and has accumulated a lot of developing modes, the constructors are eager to absorb experiences and lessons ,and to renew their building idea, therefore, the market requirement is large.
“ Constructing socialistic new countryside” has become an independent part in “the 11th five-years plan” issued by the central government. It carries out a newer and higher demand for small town’s construction, this means China’s construction of small towns will get into a new stage, the policy environment will be more perfect, the investing force will be more stronger and the system will be more creative.
The whole society has renewed its understand of small town’s development, has evolved new ideas and produced new cultural atmosphere for the development of small towns. The variable development style between small town culture and city culture, the small town culture and Chinese traditional rural culture will push their connection to a more wider and deeper level, then the cultural structure of new small towns will take its own shape step by step.
Foreign countries’ small town planning , function and cultural ideas has influenced China’s small town construction more and more stronger day by day.; the common idea between Chinese and foreign small town construction has appeared yet; the mutual requirement has increased among the same industry from home and abroad and the cooperating space and potential is going to a further step.
